Fell & Sell on Steam Deck and controller
Two questions get asked together and have different answers. Controller support is confirmed twice over — by the store categories and by the update that shipped it. A Steam Deck compatibility rating is not confirmed at all, and we are not going to supply one by implication.

Controller support: confirmed, and by what
This is the part with no ambiguity in it. Full controller support went live in the update of 27 August 2026, one day after release, alongside full key rebinding and an auto-pickup feature. The store page carries the matching categories, so the claim can be checked from two independent places rather than one.
| Steam category | Listed? | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Full controller support | Yes | Listed on the store page as a category. |
| DualShock Controller Support | Yes | Listed. |
| DualSense Controller Support | Yes | Listed. |
| Playable without Timed Input | Yes | An accessibility category, also listed. |
| Steam Cloud | Yes | Saves sync between machines — relevant if you switch desk ↔ Deck. |

Steam Deck: what was actually said
There is exactly one official sentence about the Deck, and it came attached to the controller-support announcement:
“Because of this addition, Fell & Sell is now much more Steam Deck-friendly! We want you to be able to run your merchant empire on the go, and we will continue working hard on further optimizations to ensure the best possible performance on the Deck in future updates.”
Venturing Traders Guild, “Gamepad Support + Major Fixes!”, 27 August 2026, Steam announcement for app 4627110.
Read it for what it says. “Much more Steam Deck-friendly” is a claim about controls becoming usable on a handheld, and it is followed immediately by a promise of further optimization work for the Deck — which is the developer saying the work is not finished. It is not a compatibility rating, and it is not a performance figure.
What we could not establish: a Valve Deck compatibility rating (Verified, Playable or Unsupported) does not appear in the store record we read on 2026-08-27, and no announcement mentions one. Neither has anyone published a frame rate, a battery figure, or a recommended settings preset for the Deck. We have not tested it on a Deck ourselves. Those blanks stay blank here: no rating published.
The Proton detail that matters
The store lists Windows only. There is no native Linux build, which means anything running on a Steam Deck is running through Proton — a translation layer, not the game talking to the hardware directly. That is normal and often fine, but it is the reason a Deck rating exists as a separate thing from controller support, and the reason we are unwilling to infer one from the other.

The performance work that has shipped
Pulled from the update history rather than typed out here, so it cannot drift away from what the announcements actually say. These are the published entries touching controls, graphics options or performance, newest first.

Worth noticing what the 3 September entry does not contain: any number. The developer describes the memory work as significantly improving RAM efficiency, and that is the developer’s characterisation, not a measurement anybody published. If you are deciding whether the game now runs well enough on your hardware, that sentence cannot answer it, and neither can we.
